Nepal and the Republic of Guinea-Bissau established diplomatic relations today. With this, the number of countries with which Nepal has established diplomatic relations reached 184.

H.E. Mr. Lok Bahadur Thapa, Permanent Representative of Nepal to the United Nations and H.E. Mr. Samba Sané, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau to the United Nations respectively signed a Joint Communiqué to this effect.

On the occasion, the two Ambassadors exchanged views on various matters of common interest to strengthen bilateral cooperation across national and international fora, especially at the UN for mutual benefit of the two countries.

Guinea-Bissau is a West-African country, situated in the Atlantic coast and bordered by Senegal to the North, Guinea to the South and East. Guinea-Bissau got independence on 10 September 1974 and got admission to the United Nations on September 17 of the same year. It has a total area of 36,125 square kilometers with populations of over 2.2 million.

Both Nepal and Guinea Bissau are LDCs. They are the members of the Group of 77 & China as well as the Non-Aligned Movement.
