The IUCN World Conservation Congress, held every four years, brings together governments, indigenous groups, civil society, the private sector, scientists, and experts to set the conservation and sustainable development agenda. The 2025 Congress focuses on implementing the Global Biodiversity Framework, regional equity, and accelerating nature-positive action.

Nepal, spanning from the Terai plains to the Himalayan peaks, is a country of immense ecological richness, home to iconic and endangered species such as the one-horned rhinoceros, Bengal tiger, red panda, and snow leopard, and supporting nearly 3.2% of the world’s flora and 1.1% of its fauna. Despite this natural wealth, Nepal remains highly vulnerable to climate change, as recent disasters in Ilam have shown, highlighting the need for climate adaptation, community resilience, and global cooperation. Committed to a sustainable, climate-resilient future, Nepal integrates scientific innovation, traditional knowledge, and Indigenous wisdom in its active engagement with IUCN-led conservation initiatives at both regional and global levels.
