Press Release on the Visit of the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister to the People’s Republic of China

Rt. Hon’ble Mr. Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Prime Minister of Nepal is leaving for the People’s Republic of China today to attend the opening session of the 2017 Annual Conference of the Boao Forum for Asia scheduled to be held on 23-26 March 2017. The Prime Minister will address the opening session of the Forum on the theme “Globalization and Free Trade: Asian Perspectives” at Boao, Hainan Province on 25 March 2017. After attending the opening session of the Forum, he will depart for Beijing.

The Rt. Hon’ble Prime Minster will meet with H.E. Mr. Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China and other senior leaders in Beijing.

He will address the scholars, academics, business people and students at Beijing Foreign Studies University on the theme of ‘Nepal-China Relations: Prospects for Growth and Prosperity’ and will also inaugurate the Centre for Nepali Study in the premises of the University. He will also interact with the Chinese business community on 27 March 2017.

On his way back home, the Rt. Hon’ble Prime Minister will visit the Tibet Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China and meet with senior leaders there.

The Rt. Hon’ble Prime Minister will be accompanied by his spouse Mrs. Sita Dahal, Hon. Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Shanker Das Bairagi, Foreign Secretary, and senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs during the visit.

The Rt. Hon’ble Prime Minister and his entourage will return home from Lhasa on 29 March 2017.
