Press Release on the Courtesy Call

H.E. Dr. Sergey Vasilievich Velichkin, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Nepal, and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in Kathmandu, paid a farewell call on Hon. Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. Mahendra Bahadur Pandey at his office in Singhdurbar today.

During the meeting, Ambassador Velichkin conveyed to the Hon. Foreign Minister the message of the Russian Government on the promulgation of the new Constitution of Nepal on September 20, 2015. He shared with the Minister the view of the Russian Government that the promulgation of the new constitution as “the fundamental law, which fully meets generally accepted standards, is the most important condition for stability and strengthening the unity of Nepal as a sovereign democratic state”.

The Foreign Minister thanked the Russian Government for welcoming the promulgation of the new constitution of Nepal and expressed his confidence that the two friendly countries will continue working further closely on issues of common concern under the framework of the UN and other international forums. Hon. Foreign Minister thanked the outgoing Russian AMbassador for his professional works in promoting and further deepening the friendly relations between Nepal and Russia.

Other matters relating to the bilaterl cooperation and issues of mutual interests were also discussed during the meeting. Ambassador Velichkin is soon returning to Moscow after completing his term of office in Nepal which he started in December 2010.
