Press Release on Nepal and Switzerland sign MOU establishing bilateral consultation mechanism

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) establishing bilateral consultation mechanism between Nepal and Switzerland was signed today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kathmandu. Foreign Secretary Mr. Shanker Das Bairagi, on behalf of the Foreign Ministry of Nepal, and Swiss Ambassador to Nepal H. E. Mr. Urs Herren, on behalf of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation, signed the MoU.

The MoU provides for a mechanism for bilateral consultation on political, diplomatic, development cooperation and other areas of mutual interest between the Foreign Ministries of the two countries at the level of Foreign Secretary/State Secretary. Consultation meetings will take place alternately every second year in Kathmandu and in Bern.

On the occasion of the signing of the MoU, Foreign Secretary Mr. Bairagi and the Swiss Ambassador exchanged views on ways of further enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries, and other matters of common concern.
