Press Release on Foreign Secretary’s Visit to Qatar and Meetings with Qatari Officials

Foreign Secretary of Nepal Mr. Shanker Das Bairagi held bilateral talks with Mr Mohammed bin Abdullah Bin Mutib Al Rumaihi, Minister’s Assistant for Foreign Affairs, at the latter’s office today.

Review of bilateral relations and aspects including labour relations, exploration of Qatari investment opportunities in Nepal through exchange of business delegations and other high level visits between the two countries and reconstruction process in Nepal, were among the issues that figured prominently during the meeting.

This morning, Mr. Bairagi also held meeting with Mr. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdullah Bin Jassim Al-Thani, Assistant Foreign Minister for International Cooperation at the latter’s office.

Mr. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdullah Bin Jassim Al-Thani, Assistant Foreign Minister for International Cooperation of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar hosted today a luncheon in honor of Foreign Secretary Mr. Bairagi and Nepalese delegation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Doha.

During the meeting, detailed discussion was held on the ways and means to further strengthening and diversifying bilateral relations and cooperation between Nepal and Qatar.

Mr. Bairagiarrived in Doha, Qatar on 23 January 2016 leading a delegation for an official visit to Qatar. Mr. Bairagi and his delegation was received at the Hamad International Airport, Doha by senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, Mr. Mani Ratna Sharma, Charge d’ Affairesa.i. and other officials of the Embassy of Nepal in Doha.

Head of the Central Asia, West Asia and Africa Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal Joint Secretary Mr. Ramesh Prasad Khanal, Charge d’ Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Nepal Mr. Mani Ratna Sharma, Doha accompanied Mr. Bairagi during these meetings.
