Ambassador of Nepal to Ireland, His Excellency Dr. Durga Bahadur Subedi presented his Letters of Credence today (27 April 2017) to His Excellency Mr. Michael D. Higgins, President of Ireland amidst a special ceremony held at the Presidential Palace in Dublin.

On the occasion, Ambassador Dr. Subedi conveyed the best wishes and greetings from the Rt. Hon. Mrs. Bidya Devi Bhandari, President of Nepal for the personal health and happiness of His Excellency the President as well as for the continued peace, progress and prosperity of the people of Ireland. H.E. Dr. Durga Bahadur Subedi also conveyed the best wishes and greetings from Rt. Hon. Mr. Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Prime Minister of Nepal to His Excellency the President, and to the Government and people of Ireland.

While receiving the Letters of Credence, His Excellency Mr. Higgins felicitated Dr. Subedi for being appointed as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Nepal to Ireland. His Excellency the President extended his best wishes for the personal health and happiness of the Rt. Hon. President of Nepal as well as for the continued peace, progress and prosperity of the people of Nepal. His Excellency the President wished that Ambassador Dr. Subedi would be successful in further enhancing the existing bilateral relations between the two friendly countries.

H.E. Dr. Subedi expressed his desire to further consolidate the close and cordial relationship between Nepal and Ireland. During the audience with His Excellency the President,H.E. the Ambassador had an opportunity to brief about the political, social and economic development of Nepal including the implementation of constitution and the reconstruction works after the earthquake of 2015.  H.E. Dr. Subedi also thanked, on behalf of the Government of Nepal to the Government and people of Ireland for their cooperation for the socio-economic development of Nepal as well as for their support, sympathy and solidarity with the Government and people of |Nepal at the difficult time caused by devastating earthquake.

Present on the occasion were His Excellency Mr. Damien English, Minister for Housing and Urban Renewal of Ireland, His Excellency Art ó Leary, Secretary General to the President and His Excellency Mr. John Conlan, Assistant Secretary General of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of the Government of Ireland.
