Press Release issued by Embassy of Nepal, Bangkok on Tourism Promotion Program in Phuket

With the slogan of Nepal is Beautiful: Visit, and Enjoy in Nepal, the Embassy of Nepal, Bangkok and the Honorary Consulate of Nepal is Phuket jointly organised a tourism promotion programme in Phuket, a beautiful tourist destination in Thailand, on Monday, 11 July 2016. Non-Resident Nepali Assiciation and Thai-Nepali Association in Phuket greatly helped in the organization of the programme. A large number of travel agents/tour operators, journalists and representatives of Nepali associations, totaling more than 150 persons, participated in the programme. High level Government officials from Phuket, including Vice Governor Dr. Prachiad Aksornthamakul, Deputy Chief of Phuket Judiciary, Commander of Provincial Police Pol. Major General Mr. Teeraphol Thipjaroen, and others also attended the programme.

Hon. Consul of Nepal in Phuket, Ms. Pranee Sakulpipatana, delivered welcome address; H. E. Ambassador Mr. Khaga Nath Adhikari made a key-note presentation and Second Secretary Mr. Ramesh Kumar Charmakar made a detailed power-point presentation about tourism attractions in Nepal. NRNA representative Mr. Prem Danai, and Public Relations Representative of Nepal Tourism Board Mr. Danial Limbupersertkul also addressed the gathering.

The Hon. Consul spoke about tourism attractions in Nepal, including Lumbini, and said that the people of both countries were the true link for the strengthening of Nepal-Thailand relations. She called upon all the participants to visit and/or encourage people to visit Nepal.

H.E Ambassador Mr. Khaga Nath Adhikari thanked the media and tour operators as well as the people of Thailand for their help and initiatives to revive Nepal’s tourism industry after last year’s earthquakes. He mentioned tourism attractions in Nepal including Lumbini, trekking, mountaineering and cultural sites. He opined that cooperation in promoting tourism was in the interest of both countries.

Second Secretary Mr. Ramesh Charmakar, in his detailed presentation, focused of tourism opportunities in Nepal covering nature, culture and adventure. He gave a detailed presentation on natural beauties covering the Himalayas, hills and the Terai region; cultural attractions including temples and monasteries, and arts and culture; and adventurous activities available in Nepal.

The Non-Resident Nepali Association, Phuket Branch had made arrangements for two beautiful Nepali dances. A video about Lumbini was also presented during the programme.

The audience was spell-bound by the presentations and performances. The programme is believed to have greatly contributed to publicising Nepal around the area, and thus contributing to promote culture understanding and Nepal’s tourism.

In the morning of 11 July, H. E. the Ambassador also met the Governor of Phuket and talked about matters of mutual interest. He specifically thanked the Governor for Phuket Administration’s help and support for Nepalese people in the province, and requested him for the same in the days ahead, too.
