Press Release on the conclusion of the State Visit of President of India

Upon completion of the three day State Visit to Nepal, His Excellency the President of India Shri Pranab Mukherjee left for New Delhi this evening. The Rt Honourable President Ms Bidya Devi Bhandari bade farewell to Shri Mukherjee amidst a special ceremony organized at VVIP Lounge of Tribhuvan International Airport. The Rt. Honourable Vice President Mr. Nanda Bahadur Pun and The Rt. Honourable Prime Minister Mr Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ were also present on the occasion.

Earlier today, His Excellency the President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee was accorded a Civic Felicitation by Janakpur Metropolitan City at Tirhutiya Gachhi, Janakpur. Addressing the Function, His Excellency the President of India stated that as friendly neighbour, India wished to see peace and prosperity in Nepal and stressed on the need of strengthening mutually beneficial partnership between the two countries.

Welcoming the visiting Dignitary at the Function, The Honourable Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Mr Bimalendra Nidhi highlighted the strong cultural and religious ties existing between Nepal and India and the need of further building on the relations through closer cooperation in the areas of tourism, infrastructure, trade, investment and connectivity.

His Excellency the President of India was received at Janakpur Airport by The Honourable Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Mr Bimalendra Nidhi.

His Excellency the President of India offered prayers at Janaki Mandir in Janakpurdham this morning.

The President of India also visited Pokhara this afternoon and attended a programme organized at the Pension Paying Office of the Embassy of India. He was received at Pokhara Airport by The Honourable Minister for Federal Affairs and Local Development Mr Hita Raj Pandey.

Meanwhile, late yesterday evening, former Prime Ministers Honourable Mr Sher Bahadur Deuba, Honourable Mr KP Sharma Oli, and other senior political leaders called on the visiting President of India.
