Nepal-Mexico Relations
The Country
Mexico (full name: United Mexican States) lies in Middle America, bordering the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico. It occupies a total area of 1,972,550 square kilometers and has a population of 101.88 million. Mexico City is its capital.
Diplomatic Relations
Nepal and Mexico established diplomatic relations on 25 November 1975 and the both countries enjoy friendly relations. Royal Nepalese Ambassador in Washington, DC, is currently accredited to Mexico, and likewise, the Mexican Ambassador to India is accredited to Nepal. Contacts between the two countries primarily take place in the international fora such as in the United Nations for the cause of developing countries and international peace.
Economic and Commercial Relations
As yet, there is no bilateral economic cooperation between Nepal and Mexico; meanwhile, with a view to strengthen cultural and educational relations between Nepal and Mexico, a draft agreement on educational and cultural cooperation has been proposed which is presently under study.
