Nepal-Colombia Relations
The relations between the Republic of Colombia and Nepal are based on mutual friendship,
confidence and goodwill since the establishment of diplomatic relations on May
7, 1987. The Ambassador of Nepal to the United States of America resident in Washington
D.C. is accredited to the Republic of Colombia and Colombian Ambassador to the
Republic of India resident in New Delhi is accredited to the Kingdom of Nepal.
As Colombia is located in the South American continent and having less, virtually non-existent, economic and trade relations between the two countries the contact between officials are minimum. However, the contact and consultations with Colombia in the International parleys are consistent. There is no high-level visit from and to Colombia, The interactions and consultations between the two countries are taking place only in the international forums.
Nepal and Colombia share the common views in many international relations. Colombia, as a member of G24 and G77 shares the common views on matters of developing countries. As a developing country and an active member of the Non-Alignment movement Colombia has played important role in the development of the Non-Alignment movement. Colombia hosted 11th Non-Alignment summit in Cartagena in 1995. The Nepalese delegation was led by the then Rt. Honourable Sher Bahadur Deuba, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Nepal. Former Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. Chakra Prasad Bastola had also participated in the 13th Ministerial Conference of the Non-Alignment movement in Cartagena in April 2000.
