Nepal-Bulgaria Relations
Nepal and Bulgaria established their diplomatic relationship on 15 April 1968.
The bilateral relations subsisting so happily between the two countries are based
on the friendship, mutual understanding, and goodwill. The Ambassador of Nepal
to the Russian Federation resident at Moscow is accredited to the Republic of
Bulgaria and Bulgarian Ambassador to the Republic of India resident in New Delhi
is accredited to the Kingdom of Nepal.
There is no record of incoming visits from Bulgaria. However, His Majesty King late Mahendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev had once paid an official visit of Bulgaria about 37 years ago.
Bulgaria, previously a socialist republic, is presently following the parliamentary democracy after the fall out of the Warsaw Pact. As a democratic country Nepal and Bulgaria share the common view on the basis of shared democratic values and common adherence to peace, and in all spheres of mutual interest. Nepal and Bulgaria have maintained close contact and cooperation in many international forums. Nepal and Bulgaria hold the similar views on strengthening the international security by contributing through participation in UN Peace Keeping operations. They also share the common view on a well measured reform of the Security Council and the system of the United Nations as a whole.
