JOINT STATEMENT BETWEEN NEPAL AND THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA, Kathmandu, January 14, 2012
At the invitation of Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai of Nepal, Premier Wen Jiabao of the State Council of the People's Republic of China paid an official visit to Nepal on 14 January, 2012.
During the visit, Premier Wen Jiabao called on Rt. Honorouble President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav and held talks with Prime Minister Dr. Bhattarai. In a friendly and sincere atmosphere, the leaders of the two countries had an in-depth exchange of views and reached broad understanding on Nepal-China relations as well as on international and regional issues of mutual interest.

Text of Statement by Rt. Hon. Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, Prime Minister of Nepal, at the High-Level Meeting on Nutrition organized at the sidelines of the 66th UNGA, New York, 20 September 2011
• First of all, I thank the Secretary General for inviting me to this important meeting. I am delighted to share Nepal’s experience on SUN Movement that began last year.
• Chronic and acute malnutrition in Nepal remains at critical levels with wide economic and geographic disparities. Innovative efforts are needed to reach the most marginalized and poorest population groups suffering from malnutrition. We have proven and highly cost-effective solutions that we need to scale them up nationwide.

I am very pleased and honored to be here in this august gathering, sharing the experiences from Nepal. Following the historic political transformation in my country, in 2006, the Interim Constitution of Nepal enshrined health as human rights of the people, and has also ensured reproductive rights.

Text of Address by the Rt. Hon. Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, Prime Minister of Nepal, to the 66th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, New York, 24 September 2011
Let me begin by congratulating you, Mr. President, on your election to the President of the Sixty-sixth session of the United Nations General Assembly.
I also take this opportunity to sincerely thank the outgoing President, His Excellency Mr. Joseph Deiss, for having successfully steered the Sixty-fifth session.
Let me also express our sincere appreciation to His Excellency Mr. Ban Ki-moon, Secretary-General of the United Nations for strong commitment and dedication with which he has been serving the United Nations. We wish him further success in his second term.
